Hi, i just started building an imperial guard army. So far all i have bought is 2 heavy wepons platforms and 2 boxes of troop (40 troops). Im thinking of making my HQ some last chancers but im not sold on the idea yet. The person that i fight the most has a space marine army, but it is realy deamon hunters. What he does is he has 2 squads of scout sniper 1 heavy bolter in each, but the rest of his army is deamon hunter. He makes them all fast attack so he can deep strike right in and get to assult fast. His guys all have melta-bombs, so i can't depend on tanks alone. Anyone have any sugjestions of what to buy and what to do on ht battlefield? Any help is good, thank you.

Well, few things first. I'm going to assume you're buying Cadian, yes? I would heavily suggest a Cadian Command Squad (Last Chancers can't be taken for a HQ choice, as far as I'm aware off the top of my head), as it provides everything you could need for a CS. What points level are we talking for these games? It sounds like he too isn't using HQ choices, which is illegal gamewise.
Now, if you're struggling in assualt there is a few things you can do. Kasrkin (Stormtroopers) or Veterans are much better in most areas that normal guardsmen, and Vet.s can be made from the normal Guardsmen box. Sentinels can be effective in combat when used properly, and dependant on opposition troop types can be armed with flamers (weak armour), multilaser/autocannon (higher armour) or lascannons (v. high armour and tanks), giving you flexibilty in your firepower.
Though I've never used them personally I've also heard that Rough Riders can be very effective on the counter charge, but no so effective when they themselves are charged.
I think it would really help to know what kind of troops you're facing (actually squad details) and at what points level.

He has a deamon hunter grand master or sometimes shricke for his HQ. We usualy dont play with certan point values, we just get our points as close to each other as we can. He uses greyknight troop squad, greyknight terminators. He also has 2 squads of scout snipers. I hoped i answerd you questions and thank you for answering mine.

a very small last chancers squad can be taken as an HQ.
however you MUST also have a command platoon, and as paul suggested the command squad box is perfet to get this requirement done.
if he deepstrikes most of his troops then maybe the best thing you could get more special and heavy weapons. they will provide the power to knock them out or weaken them early on. heavy bolters and autocannons will be perfect for dealing with the scouts so you can concentrate on the knights. sharpshooters would also be helpful as it could make the difference between life and death for your men and his.
